Northbay Medical

A Shopify-backed storefront with repair, sourcing and loaner journeys feeding one enquiry list.

Northbay Medical website on a phone, top of page

Overview

Northbay Medical is an independent specialist in Stryker surgical equipment, offering sales, repairs, rentals and sourcing support to healthcare facilities. We rebuilt its website in Next.js on top of its Shopify catalogue and checkout, with a dedicated page and form for each service and one place for staff to review enquiries.

What we built for Northbay Medical

The challenge

  • Repair, sourcing and loaner services were hidden behind a plain product catalogue.
  • Enquiries arrived by email and phone with no shared record of what each customer asked for or which page they came from.
  • The catalogue runs to hundreds of product pages that needed to stay fast, searchable and easy to browse.
  • Customers needed a clear route to request a repair, source a part or arrange a loan without calling.

What we built

  • Rebuilt the storefront in Next.js over the existing Shopify catalogue, product pages, cart and checkout, so commerce carried on unchanged.
  • Designed clear journeys from the home page: Buy, Repair, Loan and Source, each with its own page and request form.
  • Stored every enquiry with the page it came from in Convex, with a staff-only admin area, protected by Clerk, to review them.
  • Emailed each new enquiry to the team through Resend, with spam protection and rate limiting on the forms.
  • Added search, collection pages and product pages with structured navigation across the catalogue.

Outcomes

  • 01

Launched on the client's own domain with about 470 pages in its sitemap, covering products, collections, repair, sourcing, rentals and sales.

  • 02

We kept the existing Shopify commerce system, avoiding a migration of its orders and customer accounts.

  • 03

Every enquiry is recorded with its source page and visible to staff in one list.

  • 04

Lighthouse audit on 21 October 2026: Performance 99 on desktop and 96 on mobile, SEO 100, Best practices 100 and Accessibility 96.
